PSD Emerges Fifth in the International Quiz Bee
Posted on Monday the 09th of November 2009
This was proven true when PSD bagged the 5th place during the 13th Interschool Quiz Bee 2009, organized by the Indian Women's Association, last October 18, held in Doha Modern Indian School.
Bernard Dela Cerna and Eleenae Ayson, from First Year and Second Year respectively, won the 5th place with only 10 points (one question is equal to 10 points) between them and the 4th placer, DMIS.
The contest was hosted by Derek O'Brien, an internationally renowned quiz master.
The elimination round was done the day before, with 14 schools competing to be in the final round. The schools had 16 representatives; 8 from the First Year and 8 from the Second Year students.
Being the only Philippine School to penetrate the finals, PSD made it to the circle of six schools dominated by Indians. Among them were Al Khor International School - Indian Stream, Doha Modern Indian School, Birla Public School, Modern English School, and DPS.
In the course of the final competition, seriousness and tension dissipated in the atmosphere every time the host threw an answered questions to the audience, and in doing so, he added a comic relief to the strained audience.
The questions were tough, ranging from the current songs on the hit charts and movies to ancient Olympics, famous personalities, and the latest technology.
