The OKOR (Order of the Knights of Rizal) is celebrated anually to commemorate the national hero. This event which the school has been a part of from the very start aims to celebrate the life and works of Dr. Jose Rizal.
On November 26, 7 students from the Philippine School Doha accompanied by their coaches boarded their plane to go to Bahrain and participate with other schools around the region. These schools include PISCO from UAE, IPSA and AJIS from KSA, and PIES from Kuwait. The event started with the knighting and the evening was highlighted with the special numbers from different countries.
November 27-28 were days for competitions. While the painting and essay (English and Filipino) competitions were held together in one room, the orations for the search of young Maria Clara and Jose Rizal were held in another room. After the speeches were the showcasing of talents and finally the most awaited part of every pageant - the Question and Answer.
On the second day was the Battle of the Brains; followed immediately by the awarding. Below are the awards received by the PSD delegation:
Rosendo C. Escobar IV - 3rd Runner Up (Young Jose Rizal)
Diane Lyka B. Serrano - 2nd Runner Up (On the Spot - Filipino Essay)
Jameela Joy M. Reyes - Champion (On the Spot - English Essay)
Ian B. Enanoza and Jameela Joy M. Reyes - Champion (Battle of the Brains)
Philippine School Doha - 1st Runner Up (Overall)
Skyrocketing from the rankings last year, Philippine School Doha has really shown what it is like to be a PSDian. The delegates thank everyone who has participated in the event, the coaches, the parents, and Divine Providence. Truly, all these would be nothing without the support from everyone.
The achievements by the students and their coaches prove just one thing: PSD really is the B.E.S.T.
