Philippine School Doha was declared the overall champion and awarded the coveted Perpetual Trophy in the recently concluded 9th Order of the Knights of Rizal Talents and Skills Competition. The school won for the second time, defeating ten other Philippine schools in the Middle East in the contest held last November 5-7 at Ramada Palace Hotel, Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain. It edged out International Philippine School in Al-Khobar (IPSA) in a hairline victory with only two points in the overall score.
For the first time in 19 years, PSD was given the possession of the Perpetual Trophy, which is permanently bestowed on a school that had topped the competition for two consecutive years. The delegates achieved awards in every category. Clarenz Concepcion and Eleennae Ayson emerged as champions for the Battle of the Brains. Joyce Sison won 1st-runner-up and Eleennae Ayson 2nd runner-up in the On-the-Spot Essay-Writing contest in Filipino and English, respectively. Charlene Nebres was proclaimed the 2nd runner-up in the On-the-Spot Painting contest. The OKOR, chartered under Republic Act 646, is a civic, patriotic, cultural and non-sectarian organization in honor of the Philippine national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal. The Middle East and Africa Region chapter annually holds an interschool, academic, talents and skills competition in Bahrain which coincides with the annual assembly of the Knights of Rizal. The triumph of PSD proves that this institution only delivers the B.E.S.T. (Balanced Education in Science and Technology).
