PSD introduces new facilities to the mass

The long wait is almost over as the construction of additional classrooms is nearing its completion.
Now after the long winter break, Philippine School Doha (PSD) will finally unveil the newly built classrooms this January 16. An open house will be organized to officially declare the finishing of the new classrooms.
"If we're talking about the classroom area, I'd say about 95% is finished. By January 17, the rooms are ready to be used. But for the total project I'd say it's about 60%." said Mr. Jun Santos the Students Service Officer (SSO).
The first project is divided into two sections namely Grid 1 and Grid 2. Grid 1 is where most of the classrooms are located. On the other hand, Grid 2 is where the faculty rooms and Principal's Office are located. Grid 2 is not yet accessible for the students until it gets finished.
The two storey building features spacious rooms fit for a normal population of a class of about 33 students. The bigger classrooms cover about 54 square meters while the smaller classrooms are at least 42 square meters in area. Each room has a split-type air-conditioning system. Walls are made up of gypsum board which is sound proof. The armchairs to be used are still the ones used in the old campus.
"For the other part of the project which includes the auditorium, we will finish it by March. Next school year, the project will certainly be finished and the students will see all of the improvements we have made." Mr. Santos said. The improvements mentioned include the new library, science laboratory and auditorium. But as for the auditorium, it will be completed before the March 27 as to accommodate the graduation of the seniors and other graduating students.
PSD along with the contractors of the project, the Spacemaker and Gulf Contracting, ensured the safety of the students and the newly built facilities by putting fire resistant paints and other fire proof materials for the rooms. They also added new fire alarm controls and smoke detectors.
Due to the unexpected growth of the PSD population and the sudden movement to the new campus, PSD was forced to follow its contingency plan which states the shortening of classes and the adding of afternoon sessions for the other year levels.
"Each student should appreciate the improvement of the new campus and should respect every facility inside the campus. This means we have to do our part in taking care of the school facilities" Mr. Santos said.
