In line with the celebration of nutrition month this July with the theme "Pagkain ng Gulay, Ugaliin Araw-araw Itong Ihain," celebrations were organized by students of Philippine School Doha inside their rooms in order to practice a healthy lifestyle by eating vegetables. The activities aim to address the declining consumption of vegetables among households and emphasize the importance of vegetables as main sources of nutrients and phytochemicals.
Various programs were lined up to highlight the said celebration. Each department level has organized events and activities for students to discern the significance of sustaining balanced nourishment.
A unique festivity was organized by the Preschool Department they featured programs and activities suited to help students from the Preschool level to not only enjoy the celebration but also educate them about the importance of eating a well-proportioned banquet. The primary department also came up with gigs through veggie hats, a colored printout of a vegetable turned into caps. The intermediate and high school departments organized programs and prepared various menus where vegetables were included in dishes during the occasion.
Part of the highlights of the celebration is poster and slogan making contest focusing on the proper nutrition. Unlike the previous years, conflicts with timetables of the festivity for every class were fixed. The celebrations were held on different days of the month. In this regard, invited faculty and staff were able to relish the food prepared by the students.
The nutrition month celebration is not just an event held and celebrated for a month but it also serves as an information and reminder to students about the principles of having a vigorous routine through a sensible meal. Dr. Alexander S. Acosta admonished every PSDian to partake on the different activities and be a part of the institution's campaign to ensure food security in the community.
